About Mark Presley
My name is Mark Presley, owner of Faces Of Magic which started in 1993. The Faces of Magic is a company that provides entertainment in the form of magic, including illusion and one-on-one close-up magic. My shows are family friendly and always provide a safe, positive, fun experience for all those in attendance. I have been in the business over 30 years honing my skills as a magician.
My love of magic began at an early age. Entertaining already at 10 years old, I not only received my first “paycheck” but also experienced the thrill of my first “live” audience. Hearing their laughter and applause and seeing the smiles on their faces was enough for me to know that I had found my niche in life. Magic. I set out to learn everything I could about the art. I began by researching Harry Houdini, the master of all magicians. It was because of his book, that I was able to use one of his most popular escape tricks and avoided becoming a victim of an armed robbery. In 1995, I entered the Society of American Magicians competition for close-up magic and came home with an award. In addition to performance, I have taken on the challenge of teaching magic for park district programs and just recently, at Harper College as part of their cultural enrichment program.
Over the years, I have developed several “magical” characters.
Professor Magic -
The Imaginator -
Malacor -
The NerdGician – the loveable loner who doesn’t realize that others can hear the voice in his head as he provides a comedic string of magic acts.
The NerdGician, a crowd favorite, recently appeared on the WGN Morning Show to rave reviews and he also opened for Kevin Johnson. Kevin, who sold out the Performing Arts Center at Harper College back in July, 2011 is mostly recognized from his 2006 appearance on NBC’s primetime show America’s Got Talent. I have been entertaining families and groups at Barnaby’s Pizza in Arlington Heights for over 17 years. Ken Duke, owner of Barnaby’s says…“He’s got a loyal following and has folks coming from Northbrook to catch his act. Mark takes time with each family and has the knack of remembering their names. That’s a special gift which brings our customers back time and time again.”
I pride myself as having a family-oriented show that always presents safe and positive messages. Each performance is based around one of my characters and their persona but also “personal” touches are always made to make the show geared towards the party or event that I am entertaining.
If you would like more information about The Faces Of Magic, it’s characters and how they can make your next event a memorable one, give me a call. I guarantee the faces at your party will be smiling ones.
Sincerely,
Mark Presley
